Green cheek congested, trouble breathing.

Hi there, we have an 8 month old Green Cheek Conure, "Benji" and lately he seems to have a lot of congestion and sounds like he's got difficulty breathing, let's out a whizzing sound "feuu.." every so often, today much more often than yesterday. We're both shook up and worried, it is late here so we suspect that no vets are open. Is there anything that we can do to help our little guy? Your advice is much appreciated. Thanks, and Merry Christmas.

Bird not breathing well

I am sorry your bird is sick. Everyone has been off for the holiday, I hope your bird lived until you got to an avian vet today. Dr B could not have helped over the Internet anyway. Only an in person visit will help sick birds.

In the future, you just need to keep the bird warm, put the perches down low so it doesn't fall off and get hurt and get the bird to a 24hr clinic if at all possible.
