Green Cheek Conure flight question

by Jessica
(Barrington, IL)

I have a three month old green cheek conure. Up until yesterday she flew around the apartment just fine. Today she seems to be having trouble flying upward. When she tries it looks like she is falling, and she always ends up on the floor. I've contacted my vet, but it being a holiday weekend I don't know if he'll be able to see her for a few days. I think I might call the local animal hospital just to see what they might suggest.

She is acting normal with everything else. She is still very social and eating fine. A friend of mine mentioned that it might be her flight feathers affecting her, and that I shouldn't worry about it but I still feel like something is wrong with her. Please any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Conure flight question
by: The Avian Vet

Your bird is either weak from being sick, or has a problem with the flight feathers, or may have been injured in some way. You should see an avian veterinarian as soon as possible. But wait to see the avian vet, not a dog/cat vet.
