Green cheek conure hates my hands!
Green Cheek conure
I don't know if this is where we can questions but here goes.
I have a three year old green cheek conure whom I got from a family that didn't want her anymore. I've had her now for about two months.
Her name is Belle, as bells are her favorite toy.
She seems to love every person but me. She went to my friend who she just met, my mom, my dad, anyone. She will let them pet her and puts her head down for scritches. When I attempt this, in the same slow and calm manner as they do, she lunges for my hand/finger.
She will sit on my shoulder for hours and cuddle up to my nose, but if my hands go near her, she gets very aggressive. She's not loud, but she does call for me when I'm out of sight. When I whistle back to her she cherps happily.
I have fed her treats through the bars, I've spent time talking to her, and have her on my shoulder often. I don't know what to do about her aggression towards my hands. She will sit in my hands in the sink and bathe herself but she will not allow my fingers near her.
Anything I'm not doing, or could try to do?
Help would be much appreciated!
