Green cheek with pink bit on top of white of eyes.

Hello, My green cheek conure has a slightly pink bit on the top white eyelid part of his (sexed via blood test) eyes. It happens intermittent and seems to appear more frequently when I am around; he is bonded to me and there is only 1 other human in the house. Aside from this he suffers from juvenile malnutrition syndrome (he was a pet shop rescue). He is approximately 1 and a half years old. Could this be a hormone thing or something more serious?

Thanks for your help! :)

This is not a hormone thing. It could be sun burn from a UV light or it could be blushing or it could be conjunctivitis. I recommend that you have it examined by an avian veterinarian.

Actually, in view of his malnutrition issues, he should be checked out by an avian vet fairly frequently. Since no one can diagnose your bird over the internet, this would be a great question for your avian vet.

Thanks for taking this bird out of such terrible circumstances. Hopefully, he is eating a healthy diet of organic pellets. Harrisons is found here and is the best in the States.

Thanks for writing and keep us posted on how your little bird does in future.
