Green Cheeked Conure has discoloured skin around eyes.

Hello, My 10 month old Green Cheeked Conure has slightly discoloured skin around her eyes. Her right eye is slightly pink and her left is slightly yellow. Apart from this she seems her usual lively self and is eating normally.
I have an appointment with the vet booked in 2 days time but would like some advice as soon as possible so I can do something about it.

Thank you,
Claire.

skin around bird's eyes changing
by: The Avian Vet

If you have a UV lamp it is likely causing a "sun burn". If not then your bird could have an eye infection or is jaundiced due to a primary liver issue. I recommend that you have your bird examined by an avian veterinarian. These problems are less likely that other less serious causes, but should be considered since I cannot examine your bird.

Hi There, please do nothing, wait until the Vet sees your bird. I do hope he gets well soon. I'll also like to say one thing here now. Please DO NOT USE CITRONELLA OIL ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR BIRDS CAGES OR EVEN IN THE ROOM WHERE THEY ARE. One of my birds, my Budgie named Koochie died this morning because Citronella Oil was in his roon NEAR his cage. I'm very sorry but I learnt a lesson the very hard way so I am sharing this with everyone; don't make that mistake that I did. Thanks for saying my bit at the same time I'm answering your question. Good luck!
