green cheeked conure looks like he is about to throw up

Hi, I have a green cheeked conure who is about 3 years old. Lately he has been bobbing his head up and down (beak open and wings slightly raised) as if he is going to throw up. I say throw up because he is prone to getting carsick and this is what he does after a car ride (just he DOES throw up, if he doesn't allow us to hold him properly). I have not taken him in the car in a while, so I do not know why he is doing this. I usually try to give him some water because I want to do something, but do not know what to do. Should I take him to the vet?
