Maybe get a second opinion?
by: Tracie

I don't know if you took your bird to an avian vet or not, but it sounds like you might want a second opinion. There is a vet in Colorado, at the Chaparral Animal Health Center, that we have on our Find an Avian Vet list that does phone consultations. Someone even wrote a review about him that is linked to his bio.

She doesnt seem to e losing any feathers, other than a few of her tail feathers, which worries me a little, she will pluck one out ever maybe month or two.
This is my first experience with a bird and ive only had her 7 months so sometimes its very hard to tell how she's feeling,I can sense in many ways, but others i can not, shes also been sneezing alot lately well not overly, but she stickes her little claw in her nose and coughs. And reading some of the stories in here doesnt make me feel any better,im actually rather worried that she can be sick, shes already been to the vet this year and the vet said she was fine.

Bird fluffs after preening
by: Tracie

It doesn't sound unusual to me. If the bird is preening a lot, it may be molting. Do you see a lot of feathers around the cage?

Our birds shake and fluff after they have been preening too. I hate to tell you the bird is not sick though, because I don't know what is normal for your bird.

Birds should see an avian vet once a year for check ups. If your bird has not seen an avian vet, then it would be good to take your bird for a visit to be safe.
