Macaw inner eyelid
by: The Avian Vet

You need to take this bird to see an avian vet. If I were your vet I would gather more information about the history ? when it started, the bird?s diet, cage size, any information about possible injury, etc. I would then start with a thorough eye exam; and I would stain the eye to look for a corneal lesion. And of course provide treatment based on these findings.

This sounds like an infection which will need to be diagnosed and treated by an Avian Vet in your driving area. I've never seen this particular problem, and it could be caused from eyes being too dry. I'm more on the side of infection though.

Please take him into an Avian Vet so they can check his eye out and see what they think. Do not use any over the counter meds or home remedies for this because until you know what is causing it, you can't really know what to treat it with. Use only medicines prescribed by a licensed, trained Avian Vet for your parrot.

Thanks for writing and keep us posted as your information can help someone else with a similar problem.
