Hahn Macaw growing white hair like strands.

I have a Mini Hahn Macaw who is green and I noticed that he is starting to grow all of these white strands in between his feathers around his head. Is this normal ??

Yes, they are hard. I was wondering if maybe they were feathers. Thanks so much!

Please answer a question so we can help you. Are these "strands" that you are seeing hard or soft? In other words, are they like white sticks or soft down feathers or something else?

If they are hard, they are new feathers coming in. They come in hard and in time, with the help of bathing and the bird preening, the hard outer sheath comes off (looks like dandruff everywhere on the floor) and the new feather comes in.

If they are down feathers, it could be that your bird is plucking or has a feather disease.

If you could post a picture, that would be very helpful.
