Peppy and Don

Peppy and Don

Good Morning,

I have a little quaker parrot named "Peppy". He is 3 years old this past May. He has not been to a avian vet as of yet.
Should I send him to a avian vet every year?
Can you tell me where a avian vet is close to us?
We live in South Texas.
Zip Code: 77465
Can you tell us where we can get a list of avian vets in this area?

Thank You Very Much,

With the Best of Regards,

Don, Deano and Peppy Weaver.

Yes, Tracie said it all as birds do need to see an Avian vet at least once a year for a checkup.

Your little birdy is very beautiful, and thank you for posting his picture with you on site.

Also, let us know if you are able to find an Avian vet in your area with the information Tracie gave you. We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Take birds once a year to avian vet
by: Tracie

Dr B does suggest that you take your bird to see an avian vet once a year both for a well bird exam and vaccination.

This is great for several reasons.

** Your avian vet will be able to see signs of illness that you will not notice.

** You can bring some viruses into your house and infect your bird, if your bird has not been vaccinated.

** It is good for your bird to be accustomed to traveling to the vet, it will be one less stress for your bird if it becomes ill and you have to take the bird to the vet quickly.

** Having an established relationship with a vet means that the vet already has the bird's history and it will be easier for him/her to determine what is wrong and the proper treatment for your bird.

Your bird is beautiful, by the way. Thanks for sharing a picture of you and your bird with us. :-)
