Heart hurts did I do this? - Foot not grasping

by Peter's Mom

Peter is 5 years old male parakeets absolutely gorgeous turquoise blues and very animated. He has a 3 year old male parakeet they get along great. I just noticed 2 days ago Peters right foot not grasping opening or closing. There is strength in his upper thigh.

He is eating and chirping and wants to have free flights with the Society finches but I am restricting both parakeets to their cage. What could possibly have gone wrong. I think he got his foot court on fabric and twisted it. Did I cause this?

Parrot foot not grasping

The bird needs to be examined by an avian vet, to determine what is wrong with the foot. It could be an infection, it could have been twisted, who knows?

You can't treat what you don't know is wrong, and you can't get a diagnosis or treatment without seeing an avian vet.

Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.
