help with parrots sore leg

sadiebelle my yellow nape I have had 34 yrs this july. we love her and keep her cage clean, she is on pellets, has fruit, veges, is very healthy. but, I noticed when she is climbing around she wheezes slightly at times, and she recently had a bad scratch on side of her foot, I put some terramycin ointment on it and it got better, than this morning she slipped and fell a little ways down her cage.

she is holding her foot up and limping when she walks, but, still talks, and communicates, although she is not happy being locked in her cage, she is always out. but, want her to rest her leg for a day or so? can I do anything else? thanks, donna bourne

Bird with hurt foot

You need to have this examined and treated by an avian vet. It is possible she has an infection, and there is no way of knowing if it is bacterial or what without tests. You can't treat what you don't know is wrong.

Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.
