Usually my budgie is very active eating and chirping but today he keeps sleeping on his bottom perch. Is something wrong?

Possible sick bird
by: Linda

You need to take him to an Avian Vet in your area as soon as is possible. If he has not been to the vet since you got him, he could be harboring a bacterial infection which will get worse without treatment.

It is not normal for birds to just stop playing, singing. Any change in behavior like this indicates a possible infection or injury.

Please find an Avian Vet in your area and make an appointment for your little friend. He also needs to be on a high quality pelleted diet, like Harrison's, to keep him in top form. Seeds are not a complete diet and birds will eventually become ill with various problems as a result of lack of proper nutrition.

Bird sitting on bottom perch
by: Tracie

Yes, it appears something is wrong. Please make an appointment with an avian vet tomorrow. Birds typically hide their illness until they are very sick.

You can look for an avian vet on our Find an Avian Vet page if you do not already have an avian vet.
