Hormonal male lorikeet

Can anyone please help me...I have a hand reared rainbow lory who is now two years old, he will only come out of his cage now if he can "breed" my hand or my head. I do not want to purchase him a mate neither do i want to put him outside in an aviary.

He is an indoor bird and up til recently nothing out of the ordinary was happening.. I do realize they have the urge to mate but this has been going on for some months now - also he was a nice tempered bird but now bites every chance he gets even when out of his cage and playing with us..
Any help would be very much appreciated.

You can try reducing the amount of daytime light the bird gets, that sometimes helps.

Also, when the bird does these things, put him back in his cage and turn your back on him, then walk away for a few minutes. This gives the message that you do not like this behavior.

Do not pet your bird down the back, this only encourages hormonal behavior.
