House training a Parrot?

Is there some way to train the parrot so that he only poops in his cage? We just got a Meyers Parrot, and would like to give him some freedom in the house without the mess.

My parrot is house trained. The key is to get them to poop on command, then you give the command often enough so that they don't have accidents. It took my Sun Conure a LONG time (months) to figure it out, but he got it and rarely has accidents.

I started first thing every morning. I would wait until he did his morning poop and would say "go potty" (or whatever command you want to use) as he did it, then gave him lots of praise, which he LOVED! Eventually, he got it. Now when he wants to come out of his cage, he walks to his front perch, looks at me and goes to the bathroom.

It's kind of weird if you think about it, but he knows I can't resist and he gets let out almost every time he does it. If I take him back to his cage after a few minutes of being out and give him the command, he'll go again.

Now he even does a "I have to go potty RIGHT NOW" dance. He kind of bobs his butt like he's trying hard to hold it in. I run to his cage and we usually make it :-).
