How Much: Blue & Gold Macaw

by Connor
(Cairns, QLD, Aus)

I want A Blue & gold Macaw But I don't know how much money they are. I really want a handraised macaw. They are very nice looking birds and I like big Parrots.
And if someone would like to give me a suggestion on if there are other big birds that are pretty and can be handraised that would be very helpful.

Cost of B&G Macaw in Australia
by: Tracie

For those posting "help" for this person, please notice they are in Australia. They are not interested in where you buy your birds and cages in the USA, India etc.

We sell Discount Parrot Supplies cages etc. on this website, so obviously I will not be posting your store ads either.

Wanting a Blue and Gold Macaw
by: Tracie

The price depends on what the market is where you live. You need to contact breeders in your area to determine the going rate.

Before you purchase a bird, please do extensive research to determine what bird is best for your home. Big birds have big beaks that can cause injury that will send you to the hospital. Big birds also make loud noises and make giant messes.

Big birds require bigger cages, more toys to destroy, expensive avian vet visits etc.

We have general information on our Parrot Comparison Chart with links to individual parrot species information.

You can look for a breeder on our Breeders List and see if any listed are in your area or will ship to you.

Please visit with the breeders, find out if they take their birds to avian vets, what they feed their birds etc. Explain your reason for wanting this bird and what your household is like, so they can help you determine if the bird will "fit" in with your family.

If everyone in the home doesn't want the bird, then you will likely end up rehoming the bird. Many of the larger birds will outlive you, so you have to think about who will be caring for this bird 20, 30 or 50 years from now.
