I cannot find a good answer for healthy nacaw poop

by Jordan

his poop is the orangish on top

his poop is the orangish on top

I have searched and searched for an answer.
my avian vet is closed today because of the holidays and the emerg line is always busy.
My 5 1/2 month scarlet macaw has weird poop. I feed him Zupreem fruitblend and his poop is either dark green to an orangeish red on other times and a lot more watery. He acts and plays normal his eating a decreased only a little. He is regurgitating a little and is fluffy sometimes.

I have seen a couple of bubbles in his poop and his tongue is wet but has always been wet..

He seems to regurgitate more if her eats food from our dinner plate. Puerto Rican rice and beans. Rotisserie chicken.

Please Help

Macaw poop orange
by: Tracie

Dr B is also unavailable, sorry.

First, the Zupreem fruit blend is colored and this will cause colored poop. It will also cause health problems because it is so full of sugar and chemicals. Please switch your bird to a healthy pellet like Harrison's or Roudybush pellets.

Your bird should eat 80% pellets and only 20% healthy treats and NO cooked human food. Processed and most cooked foods have salt and other chemicals that are harmful and/or toxic to birds.

Please read the parrot health articles on our Parrot Training page for more information an healthy foods for your bird.

It is possible your bird is sick, please do Find an Avian Vet for your bird if you do not have one. Dog/cat vets often accidentally kill birds due to lack of training and experience.
