Baby lorikeet
by: Caroline (Brisbane Aust)

Hi. Your lorikeet is a baby that is why it's beak is dark not yet red. It has probably fallen out of the nest trying to fly. It won't be ready to fly until the tail feathers are longer ~9-10 weeks. It needs to be fed hand raising mix (wet slurry) 3 times day, and try temping it with fruit (apple, grape etc) and gum, banksia, bottlebrush etc flowers. You can buy hand raising lorikeet mix from your pet store. Also contact your local wildlife shelter as it is illegal to take and keep lorikeets from the wild. (Can buy bred birds from breeders, pet shops etc)
The baby's parents may be hanging around and may still feed the baby from the ground so keep an eye out.

Sick or diseased lorikeet
by: Tracie

First, keep it from any other birds you have and throughly wash your hands after handling this bird, it could have a disease.

Please Find an Avian Vet to examine this bird if you choose to keep it.
