I just got a new female cockateil and I think it's sick

I Just got my cockateil 4 days ago. She is 2-3 years old. She is eatting and drinking. But she is always fluffed up. She has also been sneezing a couple times. I just found 2 bald spots one under each wing. Her body feels warm. I can't get close to her or she will lean down and open her wings and spread her tail out.

She just come out of the cage today so I could look at her a little closer today and it concerned me. I was wondering is she plucking her feathers because she is stressed being that she just got a new home. Also I got her from a breeder.

New cockatiel may be sick

It is possible that the bald spots are normal, but hard to say. Staying fluffed up is not normal, and sneezing can be from dry air, allergies or illness.

It would be best for you to Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird to make sure it is healthy, if the breeder did not do this before selling the bird to you.

We have some good training material and health information on our Parrot Training page that will be helpful for you to read.

The bird is still not comfortable with you, but if you take it slowly, it is possible the two of you will be come great buddies. Just read some of the training articles and take your time.

Good luck with your new bird! Thank you for taking the time to ask questions and care for your bird.
