i think my cockatiel had dandruff is that normal?

my cockatiel scratches itself alot and when i look it seems as if he mite have dandruff. is that normal and what can i do?

Yes, cockatiels have "dandruff" that is heavier than most birds. If the bird is scratching a lot, then it may be molting, the room may not have enough humidity or it may have an infection.

You can provide a water dish for the bird to bathe in for 2 - 3 hours a day. Do NOT leave water in a dish all day in the cage because water bowls are the number one source of pseudomonas bacteria which is a very common cause for illness and plucking. You need to wash the water dish every three hours to prevent this. A Lixit water bottle is more sanitary and can be changed once every 24 hours without the chance of bacterial infections.
