Indian Ringneck Parakeet died of unkown causes

We recently bought an indian ringneck pair, when we bought it, they said the female was moulting? its feathers looked pretty bad and she patches that had no feathers at all, and she also had a cracked lower beak. and 2 weeks later she died. but she had a really good apetite and drank water always. do you know what might be the possiblle cause for this? all we have left is our male indian ringneck, can he live without a partner? or shou;d we get him a pair?

Dr B can't help you with this, because the only way to know would be to take the bird for a necropsy to determine the cause of death.

For sure, your bird was not molting, a molt does not cause bare patches. Your bird had something major wrong, and you should ALWAYS have a bird checked by an Avian vet before bringing the bird home. Preferably the person you purchased from has a "health certificate" from an avian vet, proving that they care enough about their birds to have them checked out by an avian vet.

You need to take the other bird to an avian vet right away, and before even considering purchasing another bird. It may have the same disease and will pass it on to other birds.
