Indian Ringneck poo

by Clare
(Brisbane, Australia)

My Indian Ringnecks poo has changed from a green faeces with white around it, to a brown faeces with white around it. I haven't changed anything major except reduce the amount of seed and increase vegetables into her diet.
Should I be worried about this?

The poop reflects what the bird is eating unless the bird is sick and then brown poop could indicate blood.

Your bird needs to be eating 80-85% organic pellets like Harrison's found here. Instead of increasing the veggies, converting bird to an organic pelleted diet would be the best thing to do. It does take a while, and here is a link on how to go about the change:

Switching Birds To Pellets article

Before any dietary changes, your bird needs to be examined by an Avian Vet to make sure there are no infections or other physical problems. Veggies should not be making the poop brown, so she may have something else going on, and before trying any dietary changes, she will have to be examined by an Avian Vet ONLY.

might be associated with the food he is eating but it would be best to have a vet check it out.
