Indian Ringneck poop

I have a 5 month old Indian Ringneck, I have a question about the poop. My IRN's poo is very liquid it is a clear liquid with a solid green core. The vet thought that it was from hand-feeding formula and it would become more solid. It has been two months and it is still very liquid. Is this normal for IRN's?

This is not normal for any bird. At this age, your bird should not be on hand feeding formula. These birds wean at 10 weeks of age. Continuing to hand feed with baby formula can cause serious organ damage related to hypervitaminosis (vitamin over dose), especially vitamin D3. Baby formula is designed for babies, not birds that are weaned, or adults.

The increased amount of liquid in the droppings could be due to kidney damage related to the excessive nutrients on the formula; it could also be due to the extra water intake coming from the formula. Formula after it is mixed contains approximately 70% water, way more than your bird needs.

I recommend that you wean your bird, and I also recommend that you take him back to an avian veterinarian for a complete work up including blood work and x-rays.
