my alfie
not sure how it happened but my quaker parrot somehow injured his claw. i uncovered his cage yesterday and noticed his right claw was limp. the only thing i suspect is that when i uncovered him i pulled it off pretty rapidly and he may have been holding on to it- iam not sure. anyway, I took him to the vet he gave him an injection of predisone (anti-flammatory med) and send me home with some of it in a bottle -crushed tablets mixed with pineapple. i was suppose to refrigerate it right away and forgot and lft it in the car.
i refrigerated 1st thing this morning but it was out for 15 hours so i didnt dare give it to him. i hear that these type of injuries can heal on their own so iam not that concerned abt the medication. I much rather let him heal naturally then give him medicine and have him possibly go thru side effects etc. he seems better today and the claw looks less swollen and he's eating and even took a bath in the bathroom sink. i think he will be ok - what do you think?
