injured wing or pulled muscle maybe?

by kate
(sheffield)

hi we have just taken on 2 african grey babies. one of them was flying great when we got her although her landing techniques left a lot to be desired. she has occasionally fallen off her perch and twice crash landed on furniture. she now isn't flying. her wind doesnt seem broken and she does move it about and preen.

if we go near that wing she backs off a little but is eating and drinking as normal and although seemed a little quiet for a few days she's almost back to her old self. we have put all the perches to the lower half of the cage to save any more thumps in the night from falling. could she have pulled a muscle ? or is it damage from crash landing?

many thanks x

Bird with wing difficulty
by: Tracie

Dr B can not tell without physically examining your bird if it has broken a bone or damaged the wing.

Birds have hollow bones, so your bird could have injured something besides the wing, and be in pain.

Please Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird in person.
