Installing tile

by Debbie

Hello, We have a cockatiel and a lovebird (our cocktiel is about one year old now and our lovebird will be a year in June). We need to retile our kitchen and then bathroom. Is it safe enough to put our birds in another room with the door shut while we have a fan blowing any possible fumes in the opposite diretion of the room? Do I need to remove the birds from the house entirely? I don't want anything to happen to them. I would rather be overcautious then take a chance on harming them in any way.

Thank you, Debbie

Bird died

My aunt installed ceramic tiles about 2 years ago and her lovebird was in another room and it died from dust inhalation even though she had put him in another room. I would remove the lovebird from the home unless you can put him somewhere else safe in your house where you know the dust wont reach it or is very minimal.

There is a lot of dust involved when you install ceramic tile. I don't really think the grout has an odor but keeping them away from the dust is really hard to do unless you have a really large home.
