Is it normal for my cockatiel to have a hole in his cheek?

by Nicole
(England)

Hi I have had my cockatiel for a couple of weeks and know none of his history. I have noticed he has what looks like a hole in the middle of his orange spot on his cheek. My question is, is this normal?

by: Linda

No, this is not normal in any way. You need to take your bird to be examined by an Avian Vet in your area to see what could have caused this and what to do about it. It is either a birth defect or some kind of infection or outright cruelty as birds are not supposed to have extra holes in their heads.

Let us know what the Avian Vet says, and do not delay taking your bird to an Avian Vet only.

My bird might be dying
by: Jane

My bird is a rainbow lorikeet. She has lost all movement in her body except for her left foot and right eye. She doesn't eat or drink anymore and just lays down. A few months ago she was vomiting and would just cry. Please help me!

Editor's note: If you want people to see and answer, you need to post a question, not an answer here to another question, at Parrot Questions

You will need to Find an Avian Vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.
