Is it safe to take my sun conure outside on a leash?

I want to buy a bird leash. Before I do this i want to know if its o.k to take my sun conure outside on a leash? i'm afraid that crows, ravens, hawks or other predators might attack her. I'm also worried that the leash is going to get tangled in trees. I have a 4yr old sun conure and she is my only bird. She means the world to me.
Thanks in advance :)

Leashes for birds
by: Tracie

No, it is not safe to put your bird outside on a leash. Those leashes are meant to be used so that you can have the bird on you and the bird can't fly away. Bird's have been hurt by attempting to fly away and yes, there have been reports of hawks diving to get birds off people's shoulders.

You don't want to allow your bird to sit where other birds have sat, because the bird may get a disease from the wild birds. This is the reason you should not allow your bird on the floor of your home, because you may bring disease in on the bottom of your shoes.
