Treat Quick
by: Bird Expertise :-)

I had a bird that died because of that. U just need to treat it quickly. He was an orange canary, a baby at that. Go to the vet for help.

Is your indian ring neck sick?

You say your bird looks dirty, and has blackish coloring on his butt...

My question for you is... does your bird have access to newpaper?

The ink from newspapers lining the bottoms of cages can rub off onto a bird, giving them a dirty/black appearance.

You should have a cage that has metal bars btwn y our bird and the newpapers lining the bottom of the cage.

If this isnt possible, go to a packing supply store, and buy the plain packing paper in bulk to line his cage with.

The ink and other chemicals used to make newpapers can possibly make your bird sick.

I would suggest also taking him to an avian vet to ensure he's healthy.

If he is healthy you can then bring your bird home and bathe him. They also have shampoo sprays that are JUST for birds you can use to clean him with. Otherwise use plain luke warm water.
Make sure there's no drafts in the home when you bathe your bird. it will take several bathes to remove the discoloring from his feathers.

If your bird is a paper shredder kinda bird... never give them newspapers to shred! Plain white printer paper or packing paper which has no inks or dyes will work.

Hope this helps.

Sick bird
by: Tracie

You will need to Find an Avian Vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be. Your bird is likely very sick.
