Is my parakeet sick?

hey i saw the pictures and it is normal for your birds dropping to change color and dont worry he is not sick. thats what my budgie used to do when i first got her. she never used to drink infront of me. so its perfectly normal just give him time.

I don't think your bird is sick, he's just scared because you haven't had him that long. It takes a while for any bird to acclimate to their new surroundings and get used to their new owner. Keep changing water every day and make sure he has plenty to eat. Most times birds won't eat in front of you, unlike a cat or dog that eats as soon as you put the food down. Let your birdie get used to you, talk to it and spend time with it. Try to give him a piece of fruit or bread. Also, regarding the sex, I think most females have a lilac coloring around their nostrils, mine always did.

Editor's note: Usually females have a brownish cere and males have a blue cere. Yellow, white and fallow birds will not always show the gender. I have a yellow male budgie that has a brownish cere.
