Jardines Parrot raw anus

by Angelina
(Sydney, Nova Scotia Canada)

I recently rescued a Jardines Parrot and she has been losing feathers around her anus. Her anus appears to be raw and theres some scabbing. She has been fluffing her feathers too. There are no local avian vets in my area please help me. She is only 3 years old. Thanks.

Jardine parrot needs avian vet

You need to drive to an avian veterinarian. This is not something that can be diagnosed through email nor treated at home.

Here is a link on this site for help in finding an Avian Vet. Find an Avian Vet

You may have to travel a ways, and this is one of the aspects of having a bird or snake or lizard that has to be worked out before getting the pet. All exotic animals will need to go to an avian vet at one time or another as they do get sick or injured.

Your bird is extremely ill, and I promise you, will die without medical help provided by a licensed and trained avian vet. Do not bother with a dog and cat vet unless they are also licensed to treat birds.

Thanks for writing,
Linda
