laying of eggs
by: Linda

Females are the only sex to lay eggs. She will probably just stop laying. Make sure eggs are kept clean to avoid salmonella growing on them and allow her to sit on them for a while if you are keeping them clean. This is critical if she is laying in bottom of cage with feces and old food present. Wash them off every day being very careful not to break or crack them. After a few weeks of this, toss the eggs.

Your bird needs to be seem by an Avian Vet to make sure she is in good health. She also needs to be eating organic pellets to prevent egg binding. Birds eating all seed diets are eating a low quality, dangerous diet and even the addition of fruit and veggies makes no difference. Here is link on how to go about the change, and make NO changes until your bird has been examined and pronounced healthy by an avian vet.

Stop bird from laying eggs
by: Tracie

Dr B suggests that you read his Chronic Egg Laying article for more information on this.

One of the things that is usually suggested, is to limit the daytime light to equal winter sunshine. You will likely need to put your bird in a sleeping cage at night, in a dark room, to simulate winter light.

The most important thing you can do for your bird, is to make sure it is eating a healthy pellet diet, like Harrison's, so that the bird does not have egg binding.
