my year old jardine's beek is turning white. Is this suppose to happen? The bird appears to be Happy & healthy. It turned a year old september 4th 2010.
This is probably normal beak growth, and you should have your bird examined by an avian veterinarian annually for check ups and vaccines.

The Lesser Jardine's lower mandible is black, and the upper mandible is horn colored, so this is normal.
Your bird will not reach sexual maturity until about 3-4 years old, so he has a way to go for that.
Thanks for the gorgeous pictures as this species of parrot is not seen very often, and it is a pleasure to see one here. Very beautiful bird, and hope he is healthy and happy with you for many, many years to come.
