Little red feathers growing out?

My budgie has feathers of some sort growing out from it's head and cheeks, it looks very abnormal and is slightly red at the roots. My budgie looks as if it's in pain and i am unsure of what to do. My other one has recently caught this too (they are both in the same cage) and I'm starting to get extremely worried. Help?

Maybe blood feathers

I think these are new feathers and are normal. Your birds are probably molting and have pin feathers. Pin feathers have blood in them and are sensitive so they may be uncomfortable, especially when you touch those feathers. However, you should have them looked at by an avian veterinarian.

Birds with red on feathers

I have asked Dr B to answer this, but you should go ahead and Find an Avian Vet to examine your birds. This way you already have an appointment, because I really think this is what Dr B will tell you to do.

I have never heard of this, it stumps me. Sorry.
