I don't have GCC but I do have many other parrots. What I find to be helpful for feather issues is Aloe Vera Distilled Liquid sprayed on them.I have some that have issues from plucking, barbering,or over preening.I know many others that also use it and it helps to soothe the skin.I buy George's Aloe Vera by the gallon at the nature food store.I have a large flock. But they do sell it in smaller bottles.I hope this helps you.

GC feather loss by: Tracie
Hi Shirley,
I have two Green Cheeks. One of my Green Cheeks is very sensitive. For a couple of years, she has had a problem chewing her feathers and also her cage mate's feathers.
I am home all day, just a few feet from the cage. They get out and get held every day. They eat a mostly organic diet.
We finally narrowed it down to an emotional problem, maybe even the desire to breed. I tried several kinds of toys and finally hit upon the solution for her.
I put several shreddable toys in the cage. The kind that are made with straw that she can pull and preen. Her cage mate loves to destroy them in an aggressive way, so both of them get a lot of use out of the toys.
This is the first time in two years that neither of them have chewed feathers on them. The only change made has been the addition of toys that she can preen and chew.
I am not saying that this is the solution for your bird. It might require a vet visit. I am just sharing our solution.

losing feathers in Tennessee by: shirley
MY green cheek conure that has lost his belly feathers is about seven years old. Seems to be healthy.eats well, wants to be the center of attention. He has been losing these feathers a few months now. He hasn't noticably lost any feathers anywhere else except on his belly or chest. I have had him since he was about six months old. Thought there must be someone out there with same problem.

I am not a vet.But how old is your GCC?Is it possible he's molting, plucking?Birds don't always show signs of being ill.If you are in doubt you should take him to an avian vet for an evaluation. It's obvious you love him now the rest is up to you.
