lost 3 scarlett chested parakeet hens

I have lost 3 scarlett chested parakeet hens, two upon laying eggs. I am giving calcium, vitamins including D vitamins, kept under vita lite lamps. 3x4x6 long flight cages The males all are doing fine, but I have lost all three hens in the last three months. Any ideas?

Parakeet death

Calcium supplements are useless if not administer in the right amounts (either too much OR too little), and if not given in the correct ratios with the other necessary nutrients. It is impossible to supplement and get these amounts correct. What you need to do is to feed a pellet diet, like Harrison's, and not give supplements. The UV light is important to provide.

Did you necropsy (animal autopsy) the birds that died? You should so that you can determine the cause of death so others can be prevented. There are other things that can cause death during breeding season besides egg binding and other reproductive issues, for example, bacterial infection and viruses.
