Love bird and dry scaly skin around neck with no feathers

What should I do? Will light coat of bacitracin work? Am adopting from a friend. Area does not bother him and no sign of mites. Has a cage mate, a parakeet but they get along fairly well. Any suggestions how to treat? Is this normal?

Stop using Bacitracin on birds

STOP USING THE BACITRACIN IMMEDIATAELY. Second – separate these birds. They do not belong together and will eventually not get along. It may also be that the stress of living in the same cage may be causing the plucking or the budgie may be doing it to her.

This could also be a nutritional problem, an environmental problem, like poor quality lighting or several other possibilities. Finally take her to see an avian veterinarian.

Bird with dry skin and missing feathers

Dr B will eventually answer this, but it could be the other bird is picking the feathers off your bird. It could be a feather disease or an infection. It is best to Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird to determine the cause.
