First of all stop giving him over the counter antibiotics since you have no clue as to what is wrong with your bird. Only an Avian Vet can correctly diagnose and treat bird ailments, and what you are doing is most likely killing the bird. The over the counter meds in pet stores are usually Tetracycline, which are some of the worst drugs to ever come on the market. They damage kidneys and liver, and are doing your bird no good whatsoever.

An Avian Vet has to first diagnose the problem and then treat it appropriately with a safe medicine.

Take your bird immediately to an Avian Vet and tell them what you've been using to treat the bird so they know what kind of damage may have already occurred. Your bird is going to die without proper treatment by a licensed and trained Avian Vet.

Let us know what the avian vet has to say,

Linda

Because Dr B sometimes doesn't answer for a very long time, I will tell what he tells everyone with this question.

1) Don't give your bird any medication that has not been prescribed by your avian vet, after the vet has seen the bird and determined the exact treatment necessary for what is wrong.

2) As soon as your bird shows signs of illness, take the bird to the avian vet, because by the time it is showing it is ill, it has been ill for some time.

3) What if the bird doesn't need antibiotics, but something else? You are destroying the birds good bacteria it will need to get well by giving it a broad spectrum antibiotic.
