Lovebird parrot continuously opening and closing his mouth

How come my lovebird parrot continuously keeps on opening and closing its mouth when he's not eating or drinking anything or talking-chirping? Is this a normal behavior for him to be doing when he's just sitting in his cage on his perch he usually sits on when he's not eating?

Your bird is very sick from some kind of infection that has gotten into his lungs. The action of opening and closing the mouth is called "gaping" and is a struggle to get enough air to keep him alive.

Please get your bird to an Avian Vet right away because he will die if you don't hurry up and get him treatment. Once they stop eating and drinking, they die in a short period because they cannot go very long without food and water. He cannot eat now because he is trying SO hard to breathe.

This is an emergency, so make an appointment or take him into an AVIAN VET as an emergency.Whatever you do do it quickly as your bird is very sick and has been for some time.
