Lovebirds & feathers!

by Blondie
(Binghamton, NY.)

I have 2 lovebirds, 1 is fine the other male bird has lost quite a few feathers and I have tried skin & plumage treatments as well as vitamins but it has not worked! What does bacteriya mean? Is that a mite? Or is it just something in the feathers like you told the other person? The other bird is fine, I figured it cannot be a mite! Or do mites not spread to the other mate? He looks like a skinny chicken, while the other bird looks quite plump! Please help!

Lovebird feather problems

Dr. B suggests that you take your bird to an avian vet to be examined and possibly have some tests run. He can not determine what is wrong or suggest a treatment. No matter what is wrong, only an avian vet can help your bird.

Please let us know how it goes with the vet. If you need help finding an avian vet, you can go to our Find an Avian Vet page.
