Lovebird's tail bleeding

Hi, A few weeks ago I bought 2 lovebirds from a friend of mine. The 1 year old male's tail feathers were missing. I was told the mother had done this because she wanted them out of the cage. Now the bird is nipping at the area and it bleeds once and a while. Will the feathers grow back and is the blood a problem? I'm worried it will get infected.

Thank you!

It is possible that the tail feathers will grow back. Yes, infection is a possibility. I believe Dr B is away for a while. Please Find an Avian Vet that can examine your bird in person to make sure there is not an infection. You might can get an antibiotic from the avian vet also.
