x ray of lump on top of wing

my parrot fred gained a lump on his back about 3-4 months ago and we took him to our local avian vet and they took a x ray and started injecting the lump. a green fluid came out of the lump and the lump went down but after a week came back up again with the same green liquid.

he is quite old now at about 42 years old so the vet advised us he would be too old for surgery. so they suggested the best thing to do was every 2 weeks inject the fluid out of the lump and put him on pain killers and arthritis tablets.

here are the x ray attached below is this is any help? i would just rather a second opinion on what it sounds like it could be as our local vet is not so sure although they think it could be cancer of the bone?!

This is a very serious lesion. Bone cancer is certainly on the differential list, however, there is also radiographic evidence that is may not be bone cancer.

The green liquid could indicate that this is an abscess. I would recommend that you have some diagnostic done, for example, cytology of the fluid, biopsy of the mass, and even cultures of the fluid.

I cannot diagnose this simply with a history and x-ray, but there is more that can be done to figure out what this is. Determining exactly what it is will provide the opportunity to treat it properly. Surgery is still an option, but I cannot recommend that unless I can examine the bird and se some blood work and other results to determine the exact condition your bird is in. You should not give up. More can be done.

I would really like to know how this proceeds if you would please keep me informed. Please post back when you have more information.
