macaw cyst above vent

my female blue and gold has a cyst above her vent one inch by one and a quarter. She has laid eggs in the past. Her diet is fresh human grade fruits, nuts no peanuts, veggies and Roudybush. Occasionally egg and granola. She has receive 1 cc cavamox for ten days but the cyst has not receded. What could be the causes? Possible surgery?

Cyst above vent on macaw

Antibiotics are not an appropriate treatment for a cyst. If this is a cyst. This could be a hernia, prolapse, tumor, egg binding, or one of several other possibility. To diagnosis this you will want an exam, x-rays, biopsy and maybe others. Surgery may be the only treatment option.

Did you have the cyst biopsied, so you know what you are treating? Please let Dr B know what tests were done and the results. He can not diagnose over the Internet, but if he knows all your avian vet has done, he might have a suggestion of another test or medication depending on the diagnosis.
