Macaw Respiratory Issues
by: Amy

The cost of a veterinary visit for your Macaw may not be that high. My Macaw had an upper respiratory infection. The vet took a swab of her nares (nostrils) and the back of the throat. He prescribed an antibiotic which I gave her soaked into the bread of a tiny peanut butter sandwich piece. She was good as new in a week. It only cost me a little over $100. You owe it to your pet to provide her the care she needs when she is sick. That's what we sign up for when we agree to get a pet!

sick mccaw

I am so sorry about your mccaw. Unfortunatly unless you get him treated by a avian vet he will probably die. I know in todays economy its hard to have enough money for everyday expenses let alone unexpected ones. Parrots are a huge responsibility and very expensive to keep. If you don't feel like you can afford to treat him perhaps it would be better to find him a new home. He deserves a chance to get better.
