Macaw with irritated nostrils.

My blue and gold macaw has red around his nostrils and it appears to be irritated. It almost has a brownish look to it. I'm not sure what it is, but it wasn't there a few days ago, I just noticed it. Is he sick or do you think it's just a passing cold? Thanks!
