Male Alexandrian Parakeet thinks I'm his girlfriend

Could you please tell me how I can stop my Alexandrian (male) parrot from thinking I'm his girlfriend. I cannot be out of his sight or he screams. When he is on my shoulder he flayes about, spreading his wings and regurgitates in my ear. This is driving me nuts. I want him with me, but not if he keeps doing this.

Thank you
Teresa

Stop Alexandrian mating ritual
by: Tracie

Every time, and I mean every time, he starts this "stuff" just put him back in his cage and turn your back on him. After a minute, get him back out and if he starts again, say noooooo in a calm low voice and put him back in the cage again and turn your back.

This is time consuming and very inconvenient, but if he doesn't like what you are doing, he might quite the behavior in order to get to be with you.

The other thing you might need to do is lessen his day time hours. Only allow him 9 - 10 hours of light hours. You might have to get a sleep cage to do this if his cage is where you spend your evening and you want to stay up with the lights on.

I am not an expert in this stuff, so hopefully others will chime in with their experience and help you with more ideas.
