Male Conure behavior

by Tracy Coffey

I have a green cheek and a maroon belly conures, they have been together in the same cage for almost two years and just this week starting laying eggs. We put a nesting box in the cage and both birds are in the box, periodically taking turns to eat outside of the box. What is the general behavior to look for with the male? Does he also lay on the eggs? Should they be disturbed, because I don't know how many eggs are lain etc...
Thank you for your help.

Breeding Conures question
by: Tracie

I am not a breeder, so I can not help you with this question. I would like to suggest you contact an experienced breeder and get more information and also experience quickly.

Please find a breeder that you can help with their birds so that you will have some experience to help your birds.

Breeding birds is not something to just start doing. There are so many things that can go wrong and your birds will suffer from you lack of knowledge and inexperience. (I am not trying to be "down" on you here, just telling you like it is.)

Talking with a breeder of Conures is the best advice I can give you.
