male or female bird?

It depends on what kind of parrot you have. Some parrots are sexually dimorphic and some are not. Please find your parrot on our Parrot Profiles page. Click on your species and read the information about your bird.

The information on the species page for your bird should tell you the difference between a male and female if there is a difference. If the male and female look the same, then you need to have a DNA test done by your avian vet or breeder.

Birds should see an avian vet once a year for a well bird check up and vaccine. It is best to feed your bird a healthy pellet, like Harrison's, so that your bird will have a healthy diet. Also, providing a Lixit water bottle will help your bird avoid a bacterial infection from drinking dirty water. If you do not provide a water bottle, the water needs to be changed every 3 hours.
