Male vs. female conure

I have a conure that I purchased at 2 months. I had thought she was a male, however, her cloaca feels more like a female. She also enjoys being scratched between her wings. I am so concerned that she will turn out to be mean, because of past experience with female birds. Do conures usually have this problem?
