Macaw scratching until bleeding

Dr B can not tell why your bird is doing this over the Internet, sorry. You need to Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird to determine if it has an infection, disease or what may be causing this behavior. You also need to do this soon because it could get an infection where is it bleeding.

If you are feeding your bird colored pellets, nuts or table food, stop doing this right away. Your bird could have an allergy. If your bird bathes in it's drinking dish, it could have a bacterial infection. Birds that bathe in bacteria water often get bacterial infections. If your bird is drinking from a water bottle then it is unlikely a bacterial infection.

Visiting an avian vet is the best way to determine what is wrong.
